Meeting Between Minister Hilola Umarova and Ambassador Yu Jun on Cultural and Educational Exchange
A meeting took place at the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan between Minister Hilola Umarova and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China (PRC) to Uzbekistan, Yu Jun. The meeting discussed developing the preschool and school education system in Uzbekistan, implementing reforms, and prospects for mutual cooperation.
Minister Hilola Umarova provided a detailed overview of the current state of the preschool and school education system in Uzbekistan. It was noted that the education system in the country is undergoing extensive reforms aimed at improving the quality of education and creating modern conditions for the comprehensive development of children. Important aspects of the reforms include improving the material and technical base of schools, enhancing the qualifications of teachers, and introducing innovative educational technologies.
During the meeting, special attention was given to priority tasks within the "Uzbekistan-2030" Strategy, including improving the accessibility and quality of preschool education, creating conditions for early childhood development, and enhancing the school curriculum with a focus on developing critical thinking and practical skills. Hilola Umarova emphasized that one of the key goals is to increase students' literacy and knowledge levels, preparing them for a successful life and career in the future.
Additionally, the parties discussed prospects for developing new mutual cooperation projects. There was a willingness to work on creating joint educational programs, exchanging experiences and knowledge, and attracting international grants for educational initiatives.
One of the important issues discussed was expanding the teaching of the Chinese language as a second foreign language in Uzbek schools. Minister Hilola Umarova noted that knowledge of the Chinese language opens up great opportunities for students in terms of further education and careers.
Ambassador Yu Jun shared the achievements of the People's Republic of China in education. China is one of the world leaders in education, thanks to significant investments in educational infrastructure development and the introduction of advanced technologies. Important indicators include a high literacy rate and a large number of scientific publications, reflecting the high level of student and graduate preparation. China also actively participates in international educational projects and initiatives, promoting the exchange of experiences and improving the quality of education worldwide.
The meeting also discussed the Central Asian Education Forum, which will take place in Tashkent in October of this year. Minister Hilola Umarova noted that the forum would be an important platform for exchanging experiences and discussing current issues in education development in the region. The participation of the Chinese delegation will allow China to showcase its achievements and share best practices with other forum participants.
At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed confidence that cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in education would successfully develop and yield significant results. Concrete steps were outlined for implementing joint projects and attracting international partners, contributing to the development of the education system in both countries.
